First 40lb Bass Raritan Bay

Jake Campi stopped by on Tuesday to weigh a nice 40lber in. He caught it on a Bunker head in the Raritan Bay area. The guys fishing the Navesink/Shrewsbury Rivers are still doing well with the Bass. Most of the Bass are anything from 28" to 36". I managed to get out fishing yesterday and ended with a two man Fluke limit.
Forum: Post your reports here from outside Florida.

Went out to the SSP with my girlfriend and some friends this morning at 10AM. Looked at the tide chart and noticed that the tides were pretty bad until around noon, so I didn't bother with the early morning hassle.Got out there and around 11 was a big mack frenzy right in front of us so we casted out gotchas got hookups at every cast. Either it was big jacks or nice macks. Ended around 4 because we had enough for dinner tonight . Tally today was 5 nice jacks, 9 keeper macks, but had to throw back I think 8 or 9 more. They were around 12 or 13 inches, but I threw them back because I prefer bigger ones with some meat. My friends caught 8 macks, but threw back 4. Also if you guys like spot tail pins or grunts, they were catching those like mad along the rocks. Here is a pic with me and my girlfriend's tally.
Forum: Please post your south skyway pier fishing report here.

got there at about 5a.m., and left at 8a.m. we were between the dumpsters and first restrooms. the jacks were killing it just before sun up. and once the sun popped up the macks turned on. had a blast with the jacks, got 2 pomps, one was a keeper, 2 keeper macks, one blue runner, 1 trout a ton of pinfish, and several cut offs. i was free lining shrimp and catching macks, wife was using her sebiki, and friend was free lining greens. oh and i had a freakin turtle on the end of my shark rig. not cool. luckily he spit the hook right before i cut it so he got off scotch free. i would like to say thank you to the guys beside us on the pier for the heads up on what i was fighting. hope you all have a great day, ill be out there prob thursday.

Forum: Please post your south skyway pier fishing report here.

So the news is saying how there is a super moon this saturday causing 42% more tidal force. All I can think of is: I need to get out to the pier and fish. I wonder how the fishing will be around this time. Im guessing either really good or really bad. What is everyone elses opinion? http://www.newser.com/story/145266/supermoon-coming-saturday.html
Forum: Fishing Question Forum

Was out at the ssp today at 7:30 am. Set up at the second bathroom. Morning was slow, but at around 10:00 am we had a frenzy going on in front of us. School of bonita was tearing up the bait and hitting everything we threw at them. Unfortunately they were breaking all of us because they were some pretty large ones in the 15 pound range. My girlfriend was catching blue runners left and right. Also there were plenty of very large jack crevalle running around attacking bait. In the end, we tallied 8 mackerel, millions of jack, and a lot of blue runners. Fishing died off at around 12 when flipper showed up and started eating our macks off of our lines.
Forum: Please post your south skyway pier fishing report here.

Left hand 6/0 Special Senator - Penn 114LH

Need help! I am looking very hard for a used Penn Special Senator 114LH. This is the left handed version. I tore my left bicep last year and it never healed correctly so I can't hang on to a heavy rod with my left and crank with my right (the way most conventional setups work). I need the opposite, hence I'm looking for the discontinued 114LH. Does anybody out there know of a person or website that may have one? Been scouring the Internet and it seems very rare indeed. Willing to pay decent money for a decent used one! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!

Forum: Fishing Question Forum

Fished until 4:00, but hooked up 3 macks, 1 pompano, about 300,000 nice sized jacks, and a nice big blue runner. Not bad for 2 hours, will be out there in the morning same spot. Feel free to say hi, Ill be weating khaki shorts and a white long sleeves. Btw here are pics of the catch and dinner.
